World AIDS Day
What Is World AIDS Day?
December 1st is World AIDS Day. This day gives us an opportunity to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Grove Pharmacy is proud to be a sponsor for The AIDS Project of the Ozarks (APO). Together we are working to bring awareness to both HIV and AIDS.
Why Is It Important?
Each year in the United States, approximately 38,000 people are diagnosed with HIV. In 2018, it was estimated that 1.2 million people in the United States were living with HIV. 1 in 7 people were unaware they had HIV. It is crucial that we do all we can to increase awareness and improve education.
What Can I Do To Help?
The AIDS Project of the Ozarks (APO) has many different opportunities to help our local community:
Show your support by attending the National AIDS Quilt Memorial Exhibition going on Dec. 1st - Dec. 5th. This event will be held at National Avenue Christian Church and will have almost 320 panels on display.
Volunteer at APO! As a volunteer you may be asked to assist staff at community events, help clients with their needs, assist staff with office work, or assist staff with public HIV-education.
Donate to APO! Donating to APO helps to provide support for education, outreach, prevention, medical care, and medication assistance.
